The role of the PC Foundation Board is to direct the path of the future of the PC Foundation including governing the fund, administering the allocation of grants & sanctioning membership of the Grants Advisory Committee Members and the appointment of Ambassadors.
Associate Professor Peter Martin • CHAIRMB BCh BAO, PGDipPM, MMed, FAChPM
Palliative Medicine Physician
Peter graduated from Queen’s, Belfast in 1987. In 2000 completed his Masters of Medicine at Melbourne University with a thesis on medical informatics. Previous posts have included a consultant post with Southern Health & South East Palliative Care, Clinical Director of Palliative Care at St Vincent’s & Eastern Health as well as Macmillan Consultant in Palliative Medicine in the UK. He is currently Regional Clinical Director of Palliative Care at Barwon Health.
Peter’s research interests include multi-modality & multidisciplinary approach to Cancer Anorexia Cachexia Syndrome and how medical informatics can improve outcomes in Palliative Care Practice. He continues his commitment to communication skills training with the cancer council’s VCCCP program.
Mr Michael Hart • DIRECTORMichael Hart has been a solicitor for over 35 years and has practised extensively in various areas, including taxation, business and development structures, capital gains tax, stamp duty, estate planning and superannuation. In addition to those areas of special experience, Michael has a broad range of legal and commercial experience in many areas of law and commerce.
Mr Trevor Turner • DIRECTORDiploma of Financial Planing
Managing Director, Certified Financial Planner
Trevor Turner commenced his career in the financial services industry as an agent with AMP in January 1988. Since this time he has undertaken studies with Deakin University and became a Certified Financial Planner by successfully completing his Diploma of Financial Planning. In October 1996 Trevor, as Managing Director, established Superannuation and Financial Planning Services Pty Ltd, now Planwealth Pty Ltd, and has guided the company to the point where is now manages over $200 million in assets under management. Trevor’s area of expertise focuses on superannuation, complex technical analysis and structures to solve client’s financial problems.
Mr Stephen Carmody• DIRECTORGeneral Manager, Silver Chain Hospice Care Service
Stephen has spent 28 years in health care, working in a variety of settings in the private and public sector, metropolitan, rural and remote environments. The last 15 years have been in senior health administration roles. Prior to joining Silver Chain, he was with Saint John of God Health Care for 15 year, including 8 years as CEO and Director of Nursing at St John of God Hospital in Geraldton.
Since moving to the palliative care sector, Stephen has participated in the following groups:

He believes that our primary role in palliative care is to build families capacities to care for their own and, where necessary, providing support of identified gaps through the provision of technical, clinical, psycho-social and pastoral/spiritual skills.
Stephen’s professional qualifications began in 1982 with the completion of a hospital based Diploma of Nursing, followed by a Certificate in Midwifery in 1986. He also has completed Bachelor of Health Science (1987), Master of Business (1999) and Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Studies (2000).

Mr Mark Cockayne• DIRECTORMark has worked in the area of palliative care for more than fifteen years, in Australia and overseas. In this time he has been involved as a clinician and administrator in various models of service provision, incorporating direct care provision, consultant roles, management in rural and metropolitan areas, and within both the public and private service systems.
Mark has been a Director of Palliative Care Victoria for 10 years (past Chairman and Treasurer), and previous Executive member of the Palliative Care Australia Council.
Mark is currently the Chief Executive Officer of South East Palliative Care, a specialist community provider of palliative care services to a population of more than 500,000 people, in what is Victoria’s growth corridor of the Southern Metropolitan Region. Mark is a member of numerous palliative care working groups at a state and national level, and has been the Chairman of the Southern Metropolitan Region Palliative Care Consortium since its inception in 2005.
Mark has a very real commitment to palliative care and a passionate focus upon outcomes of service provision and research that can be measured so as to better evaluate the services provided, and always to endeavour to improve care that is provided to the patient, and their family and carers.
Mr Ian Guiver• OBSERVEROAM
Ian is an experienced commercial and fundraising executive who assumed the role of Executve Director of the Australian Palliative Care Fund after recently concluding a hightly successful tenure as Executive Director of the Queensland Olympic Council. From 1994 to 2006 Ian raised over $4,000,000 net for Australian Olympic Teams.

Donna Daniell was appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer, Palliative Care Australia in October 2006.
Donna is a graduate of the University of New South Wales with a Masters in Business Administration Victorian College of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of pharmacy.
With a broad background spanning over 25 years in both the public and private health industry sectors, Donna has successfully fulfilled the requirements for a diverse range of positions. These positions include senior advisory roles, lobbying and negotiation, research and analysis, policy development and implementation, stakeholder engagement, leadership and project management, marketing and media management.
Donna is former senior policy adviser to two Federal Health Ministers where she advised on the portfolio areas of health finance (MBS, PBS) and Electronic Health, Immunisation, Chronic Health and privacy.
Donna brings has a keen interest in working with a community to strengthen the governance and links between its internal environment and its customers, and to contribute in a tangible way to the strategic growth of that organisation.
Mr Phil Wilson• NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Phil is currently the Spastic Centre of New South Wales Fundraising Consultant. He was previously the Territorial Appeals Director for The Salvation Army with an annual fundraising target of over $60 million. His responsibilities included the Red Shield and Christmas Appeals, Corporate Giving and the Bequests Marketing Program for New South Wales, Queensland and the ACT.
Prior to immigrating to Australia in 1989 Phil was a High School Teacher. He has worked with a large range of NFP organisations and spent a period as a Fundraising Consultant. He has presented regularly at National Fundraising Institute Conferences and has presented at every FIA State Chapter. In 2006 Phil attended The International Fundraising Congress held in Amsterdam
Phil is married with two adult sons and his hobbies include watching England lose the Ashes!
