Associate Professor Peter Martin • CHAIRMB BCh BAO, PGDipPM, MMed, FAChPM
Palliative Medicine Physician
Peter graduated from Queen’s, Belfast in 1987. In 2000 completed his Masters of Medicine at Melbourne University with a thesis on medical informatics. Previous posts have included a consultant post with Southern Health & South East Palliative Care, Clinical Director of Palliative Care at St Vincent’s & Eastern Health as well as Macmillan Consultant in Palliative Medicine in the UK. He is currently Regional Clinical Director of Palliative Care at Barwon Health.
Peter’s research interests include multi-modality & multidisciplinary approach to Cancer Anorexia Cachexia Syndrome and how medical informatics can improve outcomes in Palliative Care Practice. He continues his commitment to communication skills training with the Cancer Council’s VCCCP program.

Mr Mark Cockayne• DIRECTOR, Chair of the Grants Advisory CommitteeMark has worked in the area of palliative care for more than fifteen years, in Australia and overseas. In this time he has been involved as a clinician and administrator in various models of service provision, incorporating direct care provision, consultant roles, management in rural and metropolitan areas, and within both the public and private service systems.
Mark is currently a member of the Palliative Care Australia Board, has been a Director of Palliative Care Victoria for 10 years (past Chairman and Treasurer), and previous Executive member of the Palliative Care Australia Council.
Mark is currently the Chief Executive Officer of South East Palliative Care, a specialist community provider of palliative care services to a population of more than 500,000 people, in what is Victoria’s growth corridor of the Southern Metropolitan Region. Mark is a member of numerous palliative care working groups at a state and national level, and has been the Chairman of the Southern Metropolitan Region Palliative Care Consortium since its inception in 2005.
Mark has a very real commitment to palliative care and a passionate focus upon outcomes of service provision and research that can be measured so as to better evaluate the services provided, and always to endeavour to improve care that is provided to the patient, and their family and carers.

Donna Daniell was appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer, Palliative Care Australia in October 2006.
Donna is a graduate of the University of New South Wales with a Masters in Business Administration Victorian College of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of pharmacy.
With a broad background spanning over 25 years in both the public and private health industry sectors, Donna has successfully fulfilled the requirements for a diverse range of positions. These positions include senior advisory roles, lobbying and negotiation, research and analysis, policy development and implementation, stakeholder engagement, leadership and project management, marketing and media management.
Donna is former senior policy adviser to two Federal Health Ministers where she advised on the portfolio areas of health finance (MBS, PBS) and Electronic Health, Immunisation, Chronic Health and privacy.
Donna brings has a keen interest in working with a community to strengthen the governance and links between its internal environment and its customers, and to contribute in a tangible way to the strategic growth of that organisation.
