Palliative Care

Palliative care provides care for people of all ages who have a life limiting illness and where cure is no longer an option. The primary treatment is relieving pain and maximising quality of life. Palliative care also embraces the care of family and friends in coping with distress and emotion that affects a loved one suffering terminal illness.

The Palliative Care Foundation (PC Foundation) is registered as an approved charity and was established in 2007 to primarily fund research and education programs. The work of the Foundation builds on the achievements of the Australian Palliative Care Fund Limited that commenced in 1999.

The Palliative Care Foundation is committed to advancing the future of professional care through education and research by actively seeking funds and support.

The Palliative Care Foundation Limited has two clear goals.

1. To improve patient care through education by raising the level of professionally qualified practitioners in Australia through educational awards and scholarships programs..

2. To improve knowledge through research and address the limited availability of research grants for palliative care by funding research programs.
